The Great Plains Tribal Leaders’ Health Board is comprised of many grant driven programs and initiatives. The Great Plains Good Health and Wellness program is one of many. The quarterly newsletter the program produces is called Sacred Life and is available below.
In September 2014, GPTLHB received a Comprehensive Approach to Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country awards to fund the program for five years.
The Good Health and Wellness program collaborates with tribal-partners to develop and implement culturally-appropriate, evidence-based Policy, System, and Environmental change approaches in tribal program activities. These approaches may include implementing culturally-relevant health curriculum, reduced commercial tobacco use, increasing access to traditional and healthy foods, and increased opportunities for physical activity.
The Program also provides 10 sub-awards GPTLHB member tribes that develop or have existing change strategies that improve public health in tribal communities.
