RAPID CITY – The Great Plains Tribal Leaders’ Health Board is set to launch a new audio show to help engage and educate audiences about its work.
The Circle, a new podcast from the Great Plains Tribal Leaders’ Health Board is set to premiere on June 14 at 5:00 PM on KILI radio. It will provide weekly community updates about the history, progress, and future of the Health Board and the Oyate Health Center.
Hosted by Oglala Sioux tribal citizens Ray Rowland and Brandon Ecoffey, the show will break down misconceptions about the organization while presenting tribal public health issues in a way the community can relate to.
“We are exploring new ways to engage the community while still navigating a world where COVID-19 is a factor. We recognize the popularity of podcasts but also the vital role that KILI radio plays across Indian Country. We are looking forward to using these new platforms to reach broader audiences,” said Ray Rowland, Community Engagement Coordinator for GPTLHB.
Established in 1986, the GPTLHB represents tribal communities in South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. The organization is overseen by the elected tribal leaders of 17- tribal entities in the area. Through public health practices and the formation of tribal partnerships, it works to improve the health of the American Indian peoples through health support, health care advocacy, and direct-patient care at the Oyate Health Center. The organization also houses the We Are Warriors EOC and the Great Plains Tribal Epidemiology Center.
“Every day the staff at the Oyate Health Center and the Health Board works hard to improve the health and wellness of tribal-citizens on the Great Plains. We hope that this new show will help shine a light on the courage and compassion they display through their work,” said Brandon Ecoffey, Communications Director at GPTLHB.
The first episode of the show will explore the organizational structure of the GPTLHB and how the 638-contracting process has helped to grow services at the Oyate Health Center.
The Circle will premiere on June 14 at 5:00 PM on KILI radio and re-air on Fridays at noon. It can also be streamed from your favorite podcast platforms.
