July 6, 2016

(RAPID CITY, SD) – The Great Plains Tribal Chairmen’s Health Board (GPTCHB) is hosting a 5k run/walk in conjunction with a food drive for Feeding South Dakota on August 31, 2016. The family friendly event will start at 6:00 a.m. at Rapid City Memorial Park Bandshell, N. 5th St. and all proceeds will benefit the Great Plains Tribal Chairmen’s Health Board (GPTCHB) Wellness Council.

Online registration is available for $25 through August 26 and day of registration will be available on race day starting at 5:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a healthy canned food item to benefit Feeding South Dakota. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the event for Feeding South Dakota.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the GPTCHB Wellness Council, which focuses on integrating healthy behaviors and overall wellness throughout GPTCHB and the communities it serves. Founded in 1986, GPTCHB is a nonprofit organization which conducts health research, disease prevention, community outreach, recovery support, and technical assistance alongside the 18 tribal communities in the Great Plains including South Dakota, North Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.
